The new schedules, which are intended to increase the frequency of trains and provide customers with more travel options, will take effect on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Metro-North work crews have also completed a series of improvements to the section of track between Mott Haven and Woodlawn on the Harlem Line in the Bronx. This includes the installation of more than 1,400 ties, the creation of drainage improvements, the vacuuming of debris- covered ties, the installation of new rail and insulated joints, the dumping of 80 tons of stone ballast, the welding of track and the removal of trees.

“With the work complete, and all four tracks now back in service, customers will see significant improvements in train frequencies and will have more travel options,” officials say.

Metro-North will also restore full weekend service to North White Plains, which eliminates the need to originate and terminate trains at Crestwood.

Customers taking the New Haven Line will also see a new early-morning train from Bridgeport to New Haven, and several stops have been added to two westbound express trains at Greenwich in the evening to provide a faster reverse commute trip to Grand Central Terminal from the business center.
